with Annabel Wrigley and Heather Ross

Dobbs Ferry, New York, March 29th-31, 2025, $425

Join Heather and Annabel for our second annual Ruby and Bee Weekend: an IN PERSON celebration of community, craft, and color in Heather’ Dobbs Ferry studio, overlooking the Hudson River.

Our weekend includes two workshops: Printing Fabric by Hand with Heather Ross, and Improvisation Art Quilts with Annabel Wrigley. You’ll learn Heather’s favorite technique for hand printed fabrics, using color discharge and block printing. You’ll create your own design and learn to make your own stencils and blocks. You’ll also learn Annabel’s wildly popular improvisational art quilt methods, playing with color and shape while exploring piecing techniques to create a small framed quilt study. We will have a huge assortment of Ruby and Bee fat quarters to choose from for both workshops.

Our weekend also includes a private shopping event exclusively for workshop participants, and will include fabrics from past and current fabric collections, lookbook samples, quilts, wallpapers, bundles, and more. Coffee and snacks, lunches, evening cocktails (and mocktails), are also included.

Participants are free to book their own stay (we do recommend the Tarrytown House Estate) or a short term rental of their choice. Heather’s studio is close to the Dobbs Ferry Metro North station, trains run frequently and can get you to Grand Central Station in about 40 minutes. Uber and Lyft both operate locally.

WORKSHOP FAQ

Where is Heather’s Studio? Heather’s studio overlooks the Hudson River in Dobbs Ferry NY, which is accessible by train (Metro North) from New York City. Westchester Airport is twenty minutes to the northeast, La Guardia, Newark, and JFK are all also nearby. There is ample parking at Heather’s studio, and Dobbs Ferry, which is one of the Westchester County “River Towns”, is served by most ride sharing apps.

Where should I stay? Where should I eat? Workshop fees do not include housing, but there are lots of great options nearby. We love the Tarrytown House Estate, which has lots of different types of rooms and a great restaurant. There are also a lot of great airbnb’s in the area.

What will the food be like? What if I’m Vegan / Vegetarian / Gluten Free? We provide lunch and snacks on workshop days, as well as coffee and tea, but dinner is up to you. Our favorite restaurants are The Cookery, Red Hat, Mike’s Sushi, Hudson Local, St George, and Boro6. We also love Climbing Wolf for beer and coffee, and The Parlor for brick oven pizza. The Parlor and Red Hat are especially great for Gluten Free diners. Boro6 has a wonderful selection of alcohol free cocktail and wine options.

What If I need to cancel? Unfortunately, we don’t give refunds. You are, however, free to sell your spot to another person, and if there is a waitlist (which there almost always is) we can help you connect with someone who is hoping to get a spot.

What experience do I need? Each workshop is different, but most are designed for all skill levels. If previous experience is required, that information will be included in the workshop description on the Workshop Registration page.

Can I get connected with other workshoppers? We have a strict policy of not sharing our customer contact details. We love the community building that happens at our events, but we ask that you limit your requests (while in our studio) for info exchanges with new friends to public social profiles, like Instagram and facebook.

Can I bring my own sewing machine? Yes! We will reserve a space for you and your machine. Our studio can be accessed via an elevator, so wheeled cases are no problem.
